Budapest’s new wonder, the Danube Arena was the main venue of the 2017 FINA World Championships. Its construction is considered a huge achievement, as it was completed in less than two years, a record-breaking time.

The complex features two Olympic-size pools – the competition pool is 3m deep, while the depth of the warm-up pool can be set; according to the need and by involving temporary but indoor stands it can accommodate more than 15,000 spectators as well as, cater to all demands of any large-scale event.

Applying the latest development is all areas, this magnificent building shall become a great home of each aquatic discipline and can host a series of international events. Even though it’s going to offer 5,000 seats in legacy mode, it can be re-enlarged within months if another major showcase visits the city.

It is important to highlight that the construction of the complex was carried out in an environmental conscious and sustainable way, as a significant part of the temporary stands will be re-used and installed in other facilities.

The essential purpose of the final structure was the unique ability to fill the needs of major Hungarian Aquatics Organizations ranging from Swimming to Water Polo, Synchronized Swimming and Diving. Additionally, it will also provide the opportunity for the general public both for engaging in water sports activities and for water related pursuit of leisure as well.
