Rio 2016 Summer Olympics

Studio Pujol Sadovski was part of the team of AECOM, winner of the international competition for the Master Plan of the Olympic Park designed for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.


SPS was the architectural firm responsible for the sports facilities of the Olympic Aquatics Stadium (OAS), which will be built as the temporary facilities for the Olympic Games.


The OAS consists of an indoor swimming pool measuring 50 x 25 x 2 m with a capacity for 18,000 spectators. It is going to host the olympic and paralympic swimming trials, as well as the semi-finals and finals of water polo. the OAS brief includes another indoor swimming pool of 50 x 25 x 2 m. for swimmers’ training purposes.


Given the temporary nature of the building, most of its features, especially both pools, will be reused after the games.
